Ep71 - END OF THE YEAR 2023!!!

It's the end of the year and B-ry has decided to make a list of positive changes he would like to see in himself... LOL... JOKES... He found an article about Australia at the bottom end of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) for discipline and he's pissed off.
We also chat about getting a sponsor, end of year gifts, end of year cleaning and B-ry dressing up as Santa for the Preps!

Ep70 - INCLUSIVITY

Second last episode of the year and B-ry has kicked off over Education Queensland's new policy on "inclusivity." 
"Inclusivity" they have decided in their infinite wisdom is basically making it harder for kids to get suspended.
Less suspensions = More inclusive right?  The boys dissect this issue with all the incredible insight you've come to expect from Teacher Yarns (2 dickheads having a chat over FaceTime.)

Ep69 - FOUR DAY SCHOOL WEEK

Schools in QLD are moving to a four day work week and B-ry has some opinions. Shock.
We go over the positives and negatives and what that would mean for teachers, students and parents. 
B-ry was obviously upset they didn't ask any teachers about this change but hey, what's new?

Ep68 - B-RY’S NEWSPAPER ARTICLES

Ben woke up the morning of this recording, walked downstairs and found B-ry with his nose in a newspaper.
B-ry looked up and his first words were... "Fire up the podcast gear! I've found 3 articles that have cheesed me right off!"
Episode 68 was born...
The boys talk about the change in kid's dream jobs, new University recruitment policies and victimhood becoming a currency.

Ep67 - PHILOSOPHERS

This week the boys are both in QLD and podcasting from the outside deck (sorry about the pigeon.) 
We talk SA teacher strikes, WA possibly dumping NAPLAN and yarn about a news story of a teacher punching a high school student which obviously lead to B-ry talking about discipline.
We also read out a heap of your msgs and emails. We love getting them so keep sending them in. 
 

Ep66 - POSITIVES OF TEACHING

Ben is back on the Sunshine Coast and he's set B-ry a challenge. That challenge is...  To write a list of his top 10 favourite things about teaching.
Did he get all 10?... Almost.
Did he also make a negative list?... Of course.
Ben kept him on track for most of the episode and we both surprisingly have a heap we still love about teaching.

Ep65 - CHRIS MATHESON

Meet Chris Matheson!  A self proclaimed naughty kid at school, turned electrician, turned full time stunt man.
He went from being a sparky, to studying acting at night school, to working as a stuntman at movie world, to being Chris Hemsworth's stunt double.
This is another ripper conversation proving that education doesn't end at grade 12!!!

Ep64 - MENTAL HEALTH

On this weeks episode we cover mental health.  In the ever increasing stress put upon teachers, talking about mental health is important now more than ever.
We also cover other important topics like toilet locks and trying to take a shit at school.
Was awesome to hear B-ry opening up about his bout with depression, what to look out for and what he did to get out of it.
It’s not hard to ask RUOK!  But it’s super hard to admit you’re NOT OK.

Ep63 - MEET MAREN

Maren May moved form Germany to Australia in 2010 and is one of the fastest up and coming comics in Melbourne.
We learn all about Maren's life and schooling in Germany and how their education system teaches the history of WW2.  She also openly spoke about her tenuous relationship with her grandad who also fought in the war.
It was a super interesting chat and thank you to Maren for being so open and candid with all the questions.

Ep62 - MEET TY

Welcome back to Term 4!!! We've got a ripper episode for you!!!
Ty Gray is a fantastic stand up comedian and ALSO... A substitute secondary teacher.
He studied Law and Performing Arts graduating with a masters in secondary education and then escaped the Melbourne lockdowns, heading straight to the Northern Territory to teach for 2 years.
He just crushed his first run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has fought of jet lag to come and spin some awesome yarns with B-ry and Ben.
